Introduction

One is a wellness app that helps users develop healthy routines, provide daily wellness reminders, and generate behavior analysis.

The goal for this project is to develop an app to help people who have to work and study at home because of COVID-19, helping them better cope with the "new normal".

Problem Statement

The year 2020 has caught everyone off-guard. As a transformation designer, I decided to develop an app to help people who have to stay inside to feel a sense of normality, and feel more in control of their lives. Regularity, organization and routines are the key focus of this project. One will help people develop a healthy stay-at-home routine, and gain more control of their life by setting and tracking their goals, restricting screen time and providing routine reminders.

Qualitative Interview

I was interested to learn what is other people experiences with the new "normal", and what challenges they face. So I interviewed 10 of my friends. I asked about their stay-in-home experience and their mental health.

Sarah, 25

Goal: Restore a sense of normality at home, be more focused during work hours and be more energetic.

Frustration: Sarah has missed two meetings this month because she stayed up too late at night and didn't get up on time the next morning. She constantly feels tired and can't concentrate as well.

Goal: Gain a better work-life balance, be in a better mood, and exercise more often.

Frustration: Luna has trouble defining the boundary between life and work now. She is constantly on her computer, tweaking schedules and giving feedback to team members. She is always online, which took a toll on her mental health.

Kyle, 24

Student

San Jose, CA

Goal: Lift up mood, eat and drink more regularly, keep up with school work.

Frustration: Kyle has been feeling depressed because he couldn't see any of his friends, classmates, and he is slacking off from his school work. Because his apartment is small, he's work space is also his bedroom. He spent most of his days playing video games, that sometimes he forget to eat and drink.

Pain Point

1. Daily routine has been disrupted. When people don't have to go out to work/study, they lose the whole morning/night routine.

2. Flexible schedule causes staying up late at night, which disrupt circadian rhythm.

3.When people work from home, they work in somewhere they usually relax; which causes them to "always feel like at work".

4. People don't eat, drink or exercise regularly at home, which take a toll on their mental health.

How Are People Coping Now

1. Using a physical or website planner.

2. Feel bad and set up unreachable goals.

3. Don't do anything.

Goal

The goals for this app is to help people who has a hard time changing their daily routine to the "WFH Mode" to adapt a healthy daily routine. By integrating AI technology, smartwatch and other smart devices, it creates a wholesome experience for the user, which help them develop a consistent routine. This app also merged wellness app and to do list together so people with limited storage in their phone don't need to worry about the app taking too much space in their devices.

One is designed for someone who have to stay home and perform their daily activities. They might feel overwhelmed, anxious or lose all motivations. So the set ups are designed cheerful, caring and easy.

The user can choose to just put in one or two habit to start with, and once the user get to the homepage, they can add more. This way, the set up can be less of a hassle. Once you complete the set up page, there would be a short tutorial to show you how to navigate the app, just in case people need it.

Inspiring and Simple Homepage

There is a new inspirational quote on the home page everyday to make the users feel less lonely and more productive. Homepage consists of the daily routine, which is more consistent to a day to day basis, and check list, which can vary day by day. It is quite intuitive to re-arrange different habits. When the user edit the time, the homepage will re-arrange habit in a chronological order. User can also choose to repeat the check list items, in case they have some other responsibility pops up for a couple of days.

Track Your Goals And See Your Process

On this page user can see how much of their daily goals are being met, and see how they are doing throughout the day/week/month/year. The visualized data can help user understand the pattern of their day and how to improve.

Connect your smartwatch with this app so the app can update your hydration level, and provide more accurate analysis

Quick Note For Random Thoughts

The Note section allows the users to journal or just take some quick notes. Maybe it's a book they want to read or a poetry line just appears in their head. Recent notes can be easily accessed and the notes are organized by dates. Old notes can be retrieved by clicking on the date.
