Museum of Innocence
Branding & Logotype Design

The Museum of Innocence is a museum located in Istanbul, Turkey, which is based on a fiction written by Orhan Parmuk. I have designed a new logo for the

museum and have developed a pictorial poster for the museum. The core concept is intertwined. This museum accurately displays a middle class Turkish woman’s lifestyle in 1950s. It is a time that

modern meets classic, in a city where

east meets west.

I tried to infuse some special emotions from the book into the design. I used lines crossing each other to show the complexity and entangled emotions and relationships shown in book and the museum. It also gives a building structure and sheltering feeling. The colors I used in the design are extracted from traditional Turkish miniatures.

Life, as well as memory is not a straight line, it is more like a swirl with a lot of branches. The book is about a man's memory of a woman. So for the promotional poster, I used different intersected lines connected different pictures to depict that idea. With the parchment textured background, it renders a nostalgia atmosphere.
